Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

A Political Color Chart
1-10-10
Persons in elected office are described by many terms. The labels are usually Democrat, Independent and Republican. That is because politicians in each of these categories has chosen the party label that is most likely to get them elected. These persons are attracted to a group where they will find other like-minded persons.
Even within these categories are persons who are strongly in favor of the ideology of their group. Some believe in the ideology but differ when it comes to how their beliefs will be implemented. Kind of like saying if defined as a color, dark blue would be the color of a strong belief in one ideology. Those who believe in dark blue principles but differ on how the color should be modified for the citizenry could be described as light blue.
Another color group could be red. The weaker believers among the red color could be described as pink. Those who straddle the fence could be a mixture of blue and red and become a new color, lavender.
Assigning Colors
In describing the various political categories, I will use the colors red, blue and various shades or combinations of those colors.
For this exercise, I will assign traditional colors assigned to political beliefs. Until the media decided to switch colors to report election results, red was usually associated with those with belief in a strong, controlling government. Red was associated with communism. The last thing the leftists needed was to adopt the color red. It would betray the ideology of those labeled Democrat. Blue was chosen as the color to represent Democrats so as not to tip their hand. Republicans, traditionally, closely identified with the color blue, were assigned the color red. That move was designed to camouflage, blur and conceal ideological positions.
I will assign “conservative” the color blue. “Progressives” will be assigned the color red. These ideologies are polar opposites in political belief.
Conservative (blue) beliefs are traditional American beliefs. Conservatives feel the constitution should be considered the owner’s manual for how the government should be operated. When owning and operating one’s government, it only takes common sense to follow the instructions that allow the best and reliable performance. Certain maintenance is required from time to time to keep the warranty valid. But, to alter the performance of the government when the manual warns against it is to place the warranty at risk.
There are always those who are not satisfied with what they have inherited (red). Some choose not to believe the owner’s manual. They think they should not only modify the government but disregard the owner’s manual. Still others believe they should modify the owner’s manual to allow modification to government. In that way, they can do whatever they want and still be in accordance with the owner’s manual.
Progressives fall into the latter (red) category. They believe they have a better idea. They can’t believe people would want freedom. The people are “dumb”. They don’t know what is best for them. They are anchored in their adoration of freedom and liberty. So, it will be necessary to change their beliefs. It would also be necessary to alter the owner’s manual. Progressives also needed some who want no responsibility. Those persons who would like someone else to be responsible for their income, sustenance and life. Finding that element and building on it allows the Progressive agenda to move ahead.
Among progressives are historically significant figures. Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson, Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Others around the world liked the idea of progressivism. To make certain they had absolute control to achieve their progressive agenda some became despots. That group includes Mussolini, Stalin, Mao Tse-Tung, Hitler and assorted Asian and South Americans. There were some in other countries who were not the same dark shade of red. Fidel Castro falls into this category. He isn’t pink. He is still red.
There are some in the red category who believe in modifying our owner‘s manual a little at a time. They are red. They would rather think of themselves as pink. When compared to the blue position they are not then Progressive. They are Liberal. They don’t like even that term as it clearly identifies. They would prefer to be known as red within their own political circle, but not even a shade of red to the public. They would rather the public think of them as light blue.
Moderate Republicans don’t want to be identified by any color. They want to be known as light blue while helping the pinks achieve their agenda. These two groups combine to work as the color lavender.
The pinks and light blues (now lavender) believe they are the intellectuals among the color palette. They just want to get along with all colors and shades of color. They are enlightened. So, the owner’s manual gets modified and government is modified as well. They believe they have taken the middle ground by giving up some of both the high ground and fertile bottom land. The pinks would change the owner’s manual. The light blues would go along to keep the peace. After all, who wants to fight over an owner’s manual? It is just words on paper.
Among the red color, one will find political parties labeled communist and Democrat. The pink color usually is represented by socialists, Democrats and a few light blue Republicans. Light blue is usually moderate Republicans. Conservatives are, pardon the expression, true blue.
Independents
Independents disdain all color. They are not interested in knowing anything about color choices. They don’t want to be placed in any category. They believe they are wisest among those who must choose colors. Independents will choose sides based upon which color sounds good today. Tomorrow, they may choose another color. They are not the wisest. They are lazy. To choose a color means doing something. They are susceptible to aligning with all colors. But, to make certain nothing is asked of them, they will often decide to remain in their home on election day. Those few who do leave their homes and pick a color they might like, but will not actually take home with them, will align with what they perceive as the prettiest color that day.
Elminating Confusion
Persons who are one color but profess to be another are not to be trusted. The Green Party is actually red. In another example, John McCain wanted to run as a light blue candidate. He is actually from the pool of red. He professed to be true blue. But, the true blue voters knew that was a lie. McCain’s color difference was highlighted by the addition of a true blue running mate. The stark difference between true blue and light blue/red/true blue was duly noted by voters. Many chose to stay home and not pick a color.
McCain’s opponent was obviously red. But, he was a clear choice. Independents, who disdain color choices, chose the Red candidate because his skin was black. When defining colors in art class, black is stated as the absence of all color . When people who don’t like to choose colors had the choice of absence of all color they dove in head first. It reinforced their position, to themselves, as egalitarian intellectuals.
Now, our country is in the hands of the reds. Pinks control congress but are led, directed, bullied and threatened by the Reds. The other side of the congressional aisle includes mostly light blue with a touch of true blue. Mix in some who are yellow and that’s how we all get splashed with something the color brown. Our owner’s manual is being splashed with brown, too.
In the future, don’t think of Democrat or Republican to define someone. Think in terms of color. Are they pink or light blue? Are they red or true blue? Don’t judge by what color they say they are or will use. Note the color of their actions. Actions speak louder than words. Actions make colors more vivid and easily seen.
